"Presenting Positive Standards for the Future of Education"

February 2018 Email Blast

Green Valley Academy is proud to announce a new committee that has been started.  The Special Education Committee has been developed to work directly with the school districts and the student’s parents.  They currently attend IEP meetings and oversee SDI’s.  Our Special Education Committee is an invaluable resource for not only local school districts, but for our own staff as well.

Heading up our Special Education Committee is Heather Whitmore, M.S..  Heather has been working with Green Valley Academy for several years and has just recently graduated Suma Cum Laude with her Master’s in Education from Wilkes University as a Reading Specialist.  Jennifer Pletz and Tara Walker are the supplementary members of our new committee.  Jennifer Pletz is a PA Certified Elementary Education teacher with over 15 years of experience.  Tara Walker is our Special Education Certified teacher with over 10 years of experience and is PA Certified in Reading and Math.

Our Special Education Committee currently works in conjunction with school districts by attending IEP meetings, fulfilling input of the SDI section of IEP’s, and providing input with each individual student’s progress.  We plan on having our committee transition to writing our own IEP’s with weekly Input Sheets from each teacher.  The Special Education Committee will be using Sapphire and IEP writer to record the IEP.

Our Special Education Committee has already started contacting school districts and looks forward to working with you in all aspects of education.

Green Valley Academy offers an academic program to children throughout the Philadelphia Region, grades 3 thru 12, who are experiencing school avoidance due to anxiety.  Green Valley Academy incorporates individualized instruction with low-enrolled classes to provide a safe and nurturing environment to students. Our goal is to have our students reconnect with school and forge ahead to a successful adulthood through the power of a great education.
