"Presenting Positive Standards for the Future of Education"

Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)

At Green Valley Academy, we encourage students to think and act as if our school was their “home away from home.”  Here at GVA, our students enjoy having smaller class sizes, which encourages growth as well development in individual areas.  Students will have the opportunity to learn using a multi-faceted approach.  In addition, students will receive group instruction, individual instruction, instruction in daily living skills to help promote success inside and outside the classroom, and support from all teachers and staff.

With this said, the student population is diverse and includes students, who have 504 Plans, Evaluations/Re-Evaluations/IEPs, struggle to make gains or to grow in the general education classroom, or struggle to be successful using the general education curricula.

In order to be in compliance with IDEA and other landmark legislation, as well as to truly help the students in our care, all Special Education paperwork submitted by school districts or parents/guardians are evaluated and discussed by our Special Education Committee.  Following that evaluation and discussion, the team meets with the teachers in order to discuss the feasibility of providing services, instruction, and support for the student in question.  After this SEC meeting has taken place, the team will recommend either acceptance of the student into our program or a recommendation for an alternate placement be sought.   Starting the 2019 – 2020 Academic School Year, Green Valley Academy will be writing IEP’s.
